Breaking Employment Barriers
SPI has recently launched a program pairing members of our community with American university students who are studying Arabic.
The students engage in hour-long Skype conversation sessions with a sliding scale suggested donation.
This program provides the students with a valuable opportunity to progress in their language studies by interacting with a native speaker and provides supplemental support to some of the young Syrians in our community who are passionate about sharing their Arabic language skills.
This solution, along with the women’s craft collective are some of the ways we work creatively to help the community access livelihood opportunities that are not readily available in the general workplace.
